Semen, sore throats and inflammation

Although semen is not a cure for a sore throat that is caused by bacterial or viral infection, it has been shown to have a beneficial effect on throat nodules, which may in some cases be a cause of sore throat. Although the cause of throat nodules can vary greatly from individual to individual, semen has been shown to have a measureable impact on decreasing the level of inflammation as well as the size of nodules.

To understand why this is, it’s important to first look at the nutritional content of semen. Semen contains a very healthy mixture of vitamins and other substances, including:

• Fructose sugar
• Water
• Ascorbic acid (a.k.a., vitamin C)
• Citric acid
• Vitamin B12
• Enzymes
• Protein
• Phosphate and bicarbonate buffers (bases)
• Zinc
• Creatine
Most of these substances have individually been shown to have a positive impact on throat nodules and other related ailments, and together they appear to form a very potent mix to combat the inflammation that is the root cause of this type of sore throat. It should be repeated, however, that current research has not revealed any impact of semen on sore throats that are the result of infection.

Another interesting fact that is emerging from research is that the enzymatic content of semen may also act as an accelerant of benefits that stem from the non-enzymatic ingredients of semen. Currently, at least half a dozen enzymes have been identified in semen, none of which are commonly encountered in most foods or even nutritional supplements. This may explain why certain traditional medicinal practices (eg, Ayurvedic) prescribe the use of semen in certain situations.

Of course, the research is emerging and certain aspects of it will be debated for some time. But there is one positive point to keep in mind: There is nothing unhealthy or dangerous in semen so that there is clearly no downside in swallowing the semen of a trusted, long-term partner.
